Valle da Fonte is a family business founded in 2008 that focuses on the production of wines in the Douro and olive oils in the Trás-os-Montes region.

Its creation was due to the strong desire of its mentor, who after decades of producing excellent quality grapes that would later be sold to other companies and existing properties, decided to embrace the challenge of producing great wines and olive oils in a new phase of his life.

Valle da Fonte wines are the result of his mentor, who dedicated 40 years of his life to perfecting what today the new generation, their sons, Marco and Mario Lamas is pleased to continue and improve.

They have 10 hectares of distinct and separated vineyards in Ervedosa and Valença do Douro in the heart of the Douro Valley with distinct and separate parcels by type.

The company cultivates the finest traditional Portuguese varieties particularly suited to the ecological conditions of the site, and is proud to have preserved more than 3 hectares of old vines, with more than 70 years of age and over 10 varieties, some of which considered a rarity.

Their vineyards grown under integrated pest management, produce a high quality raw material that is due to climate, soil, but also income from reduced production and minimal (very limited) use of phytosanitary products.

Their efforts were rewarded with several medals and achievements like the recent award of Valle da Fonte that was was once again awarded with the mention "Editor's Choice" by the prestigious Wine Enthusiast magazine.

Valle da Fonte Reserva Tinto achieved an outstanding rating of 93 points. From about 10,000 wines, from all over the world, tasted by the "Wine Enthusiast" magazine, only about 5% win this very honorable mention of "Editor's Choice".

It is a rigorous and difficult selection and therefore, Valle da Fonte is very proud to share the achievement of this mention, being this an extra motivation and recognition of the commitment of the entire team.
