Adega de Monção is one of the most well-known and traditional producers in the Vinho Verde wine region. Founded in 1958, the winery operates in the Monção e Melgaço sub-region, which is widely considered the "grand cru" area of Vinho Verde, especially for the Alvarinho grape variety.
The surrounding mountains partially protect the area from the cool influences of the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in grapes with richer aromas and greater concentration. The wine is a blend of Alvarinho and Trajadura varieties. Alvarinho contributes intense fruitiness and elegance, while Trajadura is responsible for softness and a rounder structure.
The aroma reveals notes of pear, peach, apricot, apple, and delicate minerality. On the palate, it is fresh, fruity, and elegant, with vibrant acidity and a long, clean finish.
An excellent choice with seafood, mussels, shrimp dishes, sushi, salads, or enjoyed on its own, well-chilled.
