Flor de Sal (or Fleur de Sel) is a very thin layer of salt crystals that forms on the surface of the water in salt
pans of the Castro Marim area in region of Algarve, Portugal.

The Castro Marim salt pans have accumulated mineral salts over thousands of years, which gives this salt an inimitable quality.

Flor de Sal (salt flower) is collected by hand daily, with a special instrument that never touches the bottom of the salt pans, allowing the salt flakes to maintain their original, bright white color. The salt is placed to drain and dry in the sun and wind in small quantities, then packaged and stored.

It is produced using ancestral, totally natural and artisanal methods. It is not processed or washed and has no additives.

There are more than 80 minerals and trace elements in this exquisite Flor da Sal!

Flor de Sal from the producer Campos Santos is certified in quality by SATIVA and French certifier Nature & Progrés.

Don't use it for everyday cooking, that would be a waste of this . It is a luxurious finishing salt, use it for steaks, vegetables, salads or any gourmet dish.

Flor de Sal contains up to 10% residual moisture, allowing it to melt more slowly when sprinkled on food. This characteristic makes it highly valued not only for its complex mineral flavors but also for its crunchy texture.

Also try the flavoured versions of flor de sal (with piri-piri or with red wine reduction)!
