Primitivo is one of the best-known grape varieties in Puglia, producing full-bodied, ripe, fruit-forward wines under the southern Italian sun. The OMO Primitivo from Tenute di Donna presents a more balanced, drier version: rich and smooth, but not excessive.
The wine is made from 100% Primitivo grapes. After harvest, it is fermented on the skins for 12–15 days, then spends six months in stainless steel tanks and another six months in medium-toasted oak barriques. The oak does not take center stage, but rather complements the ripe, fruity character.
Its aroma and flavor profile feature ripe cherry, plum, and dark berry fruits, with subtle spiciness. It is a dry, full-bodied, and soft wine with balanced tannins and a pleasantly long finish.
How to pair it? With tomato-based or meat ragùs, grilled and roasted meats, aged cheeses, and Italian charcuterie. It is also an excellent choice alongside some Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano, a few slices of salami, and olives.
