"To make a good cheese, it takes more than skill and milk... it takes passion and the knowledge that with our products we are talking about history and culture... in short, we are telling the story of Sardinia." - these are the words of Salvatore Palitta, the leader of Agriexport Sardegna, the cheese manufacturing cooperation specialized in making the famous pecorino cheese.

Agriexport is headquartered in Chilivani, in the territory of Ozieri in the island of Sardinia.

It was established in 1993, with the aim of uniting the best of the dairy sector. Today there are 9 cooperatives asmembers. Its strength lies in the union of the individuals, driven towards a common goal.

The territory of Ozieri has always been inhabited. Entering it is like taking a plunge into history: fascinating nuraghi, majestic tombs of the giants, ancient sacred wells.

In 1300 it was already the capital of Logudoro region, but it was during the Spanish domination that its economy became agricultural and zootechnical, gaining more and more importance over time.

Today, Ozieri jealously preserves its traditions: poetry, typical songs and its famous food production.

Agriexport is among the top producers of Pecorino Romano cheese, and is one of the few that can guarantee long-ripened cheeses with a low salt content.

All this is possible thanks to the drive for innovation that characterises them, but above all thanks to their respect for the great pastoral tradition. Because they know that their products would not exist without the local farmers.

They collect milk exclusively from trusted dairy farms in northern Sardinia. This is how they ensure a safe and healthy product for their customers.

Europe introduced regulations to protect products linked to certain geographical areas. Today, the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) safeguards the cheeses of Ariexport Sardegna, because it recognises their history and production techniques as the exclusive heritage of their territory.

The PDO label is subject to strict controls. This is how we know the origin and provenance of the raw materials; have feedback on the processing and enjoy a high quality product.
