This chestnut honey from Mel Santa Maria is produced in the mountainous areas of the Valpaços municipality, Trás-os-Montes region of Northern Portugal, characterised by extensive chestnut plantations.
It's a unique honey with a distinctive flavour. In 2018, this honey was awarded the gold medal in the Chestnut Honey in Organic Production category at the 9th Honey Competition in Portugal.
It has dark amber colour, mild aroma and thick texture that is less likely to crystallize.
