Although the story of Gold Amvrosia began with beekeeping, they now also grow olives in their own olive groves in the Achaia region, in the northwestern part of the Peloponnese. The producer oversees the production of the olive oil from cultivation to bottling, with the same nature-oriented approach that characterizes their beekeeping.
Gold Amvrosia's premium extra virgin olive oil is made from Koroneiki olives. The Koroneiki is among Greece's best-known olive varieties: its small-sized fruit yields an intensely aromatic, high-quality oil.
Their own Achaian groves are cultivated using nature-friendly methods. They avoid intensive pesticide use, and instead of chemical fertilizers, they use natural organic manure to replenish soil nutrients. The goal is not maximum-intensity production, but rather preserving the natural balance of the olive trees, the soil, and the local microclimate.
The carefully harvested olives are processed within a short time, and the oil is extracted by cold extraction, then filtered and stored in stainless steel tanks in a cool, light-protected environment. This ensures the preservation of the olives' natural aromas, freshness, and organoleptic properties.
The finished extra virgin olive oil has a fresh, fruity scent and a harmonious taste, with a slight bitterness and a pleasantly piquant, peppery finish. It is a characterful yet balanced oil, making it extremely versatile in Mediterranean cuisine.
It is excellent for salads, grilled or roasted vegetables, fish, cheeses, dipping, bruschetta, or simply with fresh bread; it works particularly well in dishes where the flavor of the olive oil itself is an important part of the meal.
Its quality is also verified by laboratory tests; the 0.4% acidity level measured in the analysis remains well below the 0.8% upper limit for the extra virgin category; the low peroxide value is also an important indicator of careful processing and storage.
