Founded in 1997 by Alexandre Relvas, the winery builds on a deep five-generation heritage in agriculture, with roots stretching across continents and a long family tradition of working the land.

What started as a dream to cultivate vines on the family’s “Herdade de São Miguel” quickly blossomed into one of the region’s most respected wine estates.

Casa Relvas manages over 300 hectares of vineyards, alongside expansive olive groves and forests, making sustainability and respect for nature central to its philosophy. Their vineyards span several estates — including the original Herdade de São Miguel on clay-schist soils and the granite-rich Herdade da Pimenta — each contributing character and depth to their wines.

From the warm Alentejo sun to diverse soil compositions, this terroir creates robust, ripe grapes while preserving freshness and aromatic complexity.

The winery operates as a family business, now guided by two generations working alongside expert viticulturists and winemakers. Over the last decade, Casa Relvas wines have earned 300+ medals and high scores in international competitions and press — a testament to both quality and consistency.

With a broad portfolio that ranges from approachable everyday wines to more expressive, terroir-led bottles, Casa Relvas showcases classic Alentejo varieties such as Aragonez, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Arinto, Antão Vaz and Viognier.
