Spall's édesburgonya chips

Collection: Spall's

Spall’s was born out of the sea — and out of one man’s search for a snack that was both healthy and delicious. Duarte Guerra Pinto, a surf enthusiast and food lover, spent countless hours in the ocean but struggled to find a convenient food that could keep up with his active, health-conscious lifestyle.

His journey led him to the sweet potato — a humble yet nutritionally rich root he discovered during a visit to Aljezur, Portugal’s capital of sweet potato cultivation.

Fascinated by its health benefits and culinary potential, Duarte began experimenting with sweet potatoes grown on his own land. With support from a chef friend, he developed a chip recipe that preserved the vegetable’s natural properties even after frying.

Lab tests confirmed high levels of vitamins A, C, and E and fiber — showing that a snack could be both satisfying and good for you.

From the beginning, Spall’s has relied exclusively on Portuguese ingredients: sweet potatoes from their own chemical-free cultivation in Aljezur, sea salt from the Ria Formosa in Tavira, and aromatic rosemary. All production takes place in Portugal, reinforcing the brand’s deep national roots and commitment to local sourcing.

Spall’s made its public debut at a surf event in 2018 and quickly gained recognition for offering a clean-label snack that didn’t compromise on taste. With extra-fine cuts, a wavy texture, and a light, crispy bite, the chips stand apart from typical industrial alternatives.

More than just a food product, Spall’s reflects a lifestyle — one rooted in balance, authenticity, and a respect for nature. The name itself echoes the brand’s mission: Sweet potato for all.

Whether for athletes, food-conscious eaters, or anyone wanting something light and natural, Spall’s chips deliver flavor and nourishment in every bite.
