Hoya de Cadenas Tempranillo Reserva, red, 2020

The Vicente Gandía winery was founded in Valencia in 1885 and is considered one of Spain's best-known family wineries today. With over 140 years of history, the estate's flagship property is the Hoya de Cadenas Estate, located in the Utiel–Requena protected wine region near Valencia.

On the more than 300-hectare estate, Mediterranean sunshine, cool nights, and limestone-clay soil create excellent conditions for crafting characterful yet elegant red wines. The winery's wines regularly win prestigious international awards while maintaining their excellent value for money.

The Hoya de Cadenas Reserva Tempranillo 2020 is one of the winery's best-known releases. Made from 100% Tempranillo grapes, it undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation, is aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, and then develops in the bottle for at least another two years before being released. This long aging process makes it truly harmonious and sophisticated.

On the nose, it reveals notes of ripe black fruits, plum, vanilla, and subtle toasted oak. On the palate, it has a velvety texture, is medium-bodied, with beautifully rounded tannins, and an elegant, slightly spicy character on the finish. It is a classic Spanish Reserva that is both rich and easy to love.

An excellent choice for grilled beef, lamb, game dishes, and aged cheeses. From the Sol Deli selection, it pairs particularly well with an aged Manchego cheese or a curated platter of Spanish ham.
