Conde de Arraiolos is a wine from Herdade das Mouras estate, located in the heart of Alentejo, Southern Portugal. The estate lies in the Arraiolos region, where the sunny climate and poor soils provide excellent conditions for producing full-bodied, characterful red wines.
The development of modern vineyards began in the early 2000s, with the first harvest taking place in 2005. The 2023 red wine is made from Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez varietals, typical of the region, complemented by Syrah.
The wine is partially aged in French oak barrels, preserving its fruitiness while acquiring elegant spicy and vanilla notes. It is a deep ruby red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, blackcurrant, plum, and subtle cocoa-spice tones. On the palate, it is a medium-bodied, velvety-tannined, balanced red wine with a long, pleasant finish.
An excellent accompaniment to grilled meats, slow-roasted pork dishes, Mediterranean stews, and semi-hard cheeses.
