Lustau East India Solera is one of the bodega's iconic sherries, evoking the world of old maritime trade routes. The story goes that sherries transported on ships gained a unique smoothness and complexity during long journeys; Lustau revived this style by creating East India Solera.
This wine is a blend of dry Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximénez: the Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez are aged separately in their own soleras for 12 years, then after blending, they rest for another 3 years in a 45-barrel solera. The result is a 15-year-old cream sherry with an average age, 20% alcohol content, sweet yet elegantly balanced.
Its color is dark mahogany, with aromas of maple syrup, brown sugar, raisins, prunes, orange peel, and notes of chocolate and nuts. The palate is rich, silky, and deep, but the sherry's fresh acidity beautifully balances the sweetness. It is excellent with light desserts, pastries, creamy cheeses, or foie gras, but it is also exciting as an aperitif served with an orange slice and ice.
Grape varieties: Oloroso (80%) and Pedro Ximenez (20%)
Recommended serving temperature: 10-12 °C
Alcohol: 20%
