Terras de Monsaraz Reserva is a wine from CARMIM winery, one of the most renowned producers in the Alentejo region. The cooperative was founded in 1971 in Reguengos de Monsaraz and today unites the work of nearly a thousand grape growers.
The wine region is located in southeastern Portugal, where hot, dry summers and schist-granite soils result in concentrated, richly aromatic wines. The blend of the Reserva is based on three characteristic Portuguese varieties: Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, and Touriga Nacional.
The grapes are harvested by hand, then after temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine ages for 9 months in French and American oak barrels, which lends it extra complexity and elegant spiciness.
Its aroma features ripe blackberries, raspberries, and dark berries, complemented by delicate cocoa, vanilla, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is a full-bodied, richly structured red wine with a mineral character, and a long, harmonious finish. An excellent choice with grilled beef, lamb dishes, game, and aged sheep cheeses.
Grape varieties: Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, and Syrah
Recommended serving temperature: 16-18 °C
