The Kefalonia strawberry tree honey, or arbutus honey, is based on the nectar of the strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) flower, a characteristic evergreen plant of the Mediterranean region. The plant blooms in autumn, so this honey differs significantly from typical spring-summer flower honeys not only in its origin but also in its character.

One of the most interesting qualities of strawberry tree honey is its taste. It is not a particularly sweet honey: the sweetness is balanced by an elegant bitterness, accompanied by subtle notes of bitter almond, herbs, and a touch of caramel. Its color is golden, with darker copper hues. Gold Amvrosia strawberry tree honey can crystallize relatively quickly by nature.

Precisely because of its unusual sweet-bitter character, it is an exciting choice for those looking for more complex flavors than classic flower honeys. It pairs particularly well with aged cheeses and Greek yogurt, but it can also be used on toast, oatmeal, or for desserts – and it perhaps reveals its special character best when tasted on its own.

Furthermore, Gold Amvrosia's strawberry tree honey is one of the producer's most successful batches: it received a "Platinum" rating at the 2022 Mediterranean Taste Awards.
