In Spain, vermouth is much more than just a drink: it is an essential part of meeting friends, enjoying tapas, and having leisurely conversations. Bodegas Yzaguirre has been crafting its vermouths in Catalonia for over 140 years, with a commitment to traditional recipes and carefully selected ingredients.
What is vermouth?
Vermouth is a wine-based aperitif flavored with various herbs, spices, and botanical extracts. In Spain, it is traditionally enjoyed before lunch, well-chilled, served with ice and a few tapas.
The Yzaguirre Classic Rojo is the winery's most renowned vermouth, crafted from selected wines and a secret recipe of over 80 herbs and spices. Its rich aroma reveals citrusy, spicy, and slightly balsamic notes, made truly distinctive by the harmonious blend of cinnamon, vanilla, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it offers a pleasant balance between sweetness, fresh acidity, and the delicately bitter finish characteristic of vermouths.
Served well-chilled with a few ice cubes, a slice of orange, and some olives, it makes for an authentic Spanish aperitif. It is also an excellent choice to pair with tapas, aged cheeses, Jamón Serrano, olives, or salted almonds.

Bodegas Yzaguirre
Few drinks are as closely linked to the Spanish way of life as vermouth. In Catalonia, the so-called "hacer el vermut" – that is, gathering before lunch with family or friends for a glass of vermouth, some olives, and light tapas – is a tradition that remains very much alive today.
