La Chinata

Collection: La Chinata

Nestled in the rolling hills of northern Extremadura, La Chinata has its roots in Plasencia and the nearby village of Malpartida de Cáceres, with its olive groves located in the verdant Sierra de Gata region of Western Spain.

The name “La Chinata” actually comes from the term locals once used to describe residents of Malpartida—an affectionate nod to the brand’s deep ties to the village and its traditions.

The company traces its beginnings to 1932, when the Oliva family acquired their first olive orchard in the Jerte Valley. Driven by a strong belief in the heritage of local olive varieties, they manually pressed olives using traditional stone mills and wooden presses—a method held for generations until the family gradually modernized the process while respecting its ancestral DNA.

Today, La Chinata is firmly a fourth-generation family business, combining its rich past with modern milling and extraction techniques to produce high‑quality extra virgin olive oil and other gourmet specialties.

While olive oil remains at the heart of La Chinata’s identity, they have grown over the years to encompass two key pillars: culinary products and natural cosmetics. Under the “Selecciones de Gourmet” line, they offer not only premium extra virgin olive oil harvested from the local Manzanilla Cacereña variety—known for its subtle sweetness, mellow aroma, and light yellow-green hue—but also complementary gastronomic products like vinegars, honeys, patés, and olive-based condiments designed to highlight regional flavors.

Drawing from ancient Mediterranean traditions, La Chinata has also developed an extensive cosmetic range leveraging the natural benefits of olive oil: facial creams, serums, baths, exfoliating soaps made with olive pits, lip balms, hair care and body lotions. These are marketed globally under their skincare line, framed as organic, anti-oxidant rich, and suitable for sensitive skin—benefiting from polyphenols and mild acidity to protect and hydrate.

Operating from Cáceres and employing around 30 people, La Chinata is one of Spain’s most recognizable gourmet olive oil brands.

What truly defines La Chinata is a deep respect for local heritage, quality-driven production, and sustainability. They champion native olive cultivars, transparent sourcing, and environmentally-conscious packaging—often using dark glass bottles or recyclable cans to preserve flavor integrity. Above all, they bridge centuries-old practices with contemporary lifestyle expectations, offering both culinary and cosmetic lines that feel authentic, artisanal, and rooted in their Extremadura origins.
